The Czech Lion gala evening will be hosted by Jiří Havelka on 5th March

The Czech Lion awards of the Czech Film and Television Academy  (CFTA) will be handed to the film artists in Dvořák’s Hall in Rudolfinum on 5th March 2022. The ceremonial evening will by hosted by the director, actor and presenter Jiří Havelka. The respected director Tereza Kopáčová will become the creative supervisor and the evening will be directed by the proved director Michael Čech. During the awarding of the Czech Lions Rudolfinum will be redecorated by the film architect Petr Kunc. The author of the visual style of the 29th Czech Lion Awards is the graphic designer Jana Krchová. Traditionally the ceremony of the annual 29th Czech Lion Awards will be broadcast live by Czech Television at 20.10 on the CT1 channel.

The academics are to start voting about the nominations for the Czech Film and Television Academy for the year of 2021 today. The nominations will be announced on 17th January 2022. For more information go to www.ceskylev.cz.

„Despite the fact that the cinemas were closed during the first half of the year, we can say that the year of 2021 was the year of film premieres. The academics are about to judge a remarkable amount of 32 feature actors‘ films. The pre-selection committee consisting of the members of CFTA has chosen 16 out of 33 documentary features produced this year and the academics will vote about those in the first round,“ explains the managing director of the CFTA Tereza Rychnovská. The academics will also vote about 16 television works of art and this category is now for the second year open to the works of art distributed via the Internet. The statuette of the Czech Lion can be awarded to 7 animated films or 13 short films. The Czech Lion annual awards will be presented in 21 statutory categories. Every year the 15-member presidium of the CFTA also acknowledges unique contribution to Czech film and can also present an award for an exceptional feat in the area of audio-visual arts.

The presentation of the Czech Lion Awards can take place thanks to the generous support of our stable partners.
