The Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA) has just announced the nominations for the 23rd Czech Lion Annual Awards. The academics had altogether 42 feature films, animated films and documentary features that had been released in 2015 to choose from. The films are going to compete for the Czech Lion trophies in 15 statutory categories. The films Ztraceni v Mnichově (Lost in Munich), Kobry a užovky (The Snake Brothers) and Domácí péče (Home Care) obtained the most nominations across all the categories. The winners will be ceremonially awarded on Saturday the 5th March 2016 in Rudolfinum in Prague. This year the gala evening will again be hosted by Lucie Výborná. Awarding Czech Lions in the area of television production is the news of the 23rd Czech Lion Annual Awards. Czech Television, TV Prima, TV Nova, HBO Europe and TV Barrandov decided to take part as they nominated their choice of works for the three announced categories.

The 23rd Czech Lion, the annual awards of Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA), will take place on Saturday the 5th March 2016 again in Rudolfinum in Prague. The ceremonial gala evening will be again hosted by Lucie Výborná. Altogether 42 feature films (feature films, animated films and documentary features) which have been released in 2015 have a chance to win the Czech Lion award in 15 statutory categories. The news is the three competitive categories in the area of television production where the Czech Lion will be awarded as well. Furthermore the CFTA can make a decision about the Czech Lion Award for an exceptional feat in the area of audio-visual arts. The nominees in the individual categories will be revealed on 20th January 2016 during a press conference of the CFTA.
Czech cinematography will be represented at the Oscars by the film Home Care
The Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA) decided by taking a vote about the Czech candidate for the nominations for the Oscar in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. The academics chose the film called Home Care directed by Slávek Horák. The film, which got two awards at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, will represent Czech cinematography at the 88th awards of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The 22nd Czech Lions, the annual awards of the Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA), will be presented again in a ceremonial way. The glass statuettes made by Jakub Berdych will be awarded in Dvo?ák’s Hall of Rudolfinum in Prague on Saturday 21st February 2015 during a gala evening that will be broadcast live by Czech Television. This year the filmmakers of 50 feature films or documentary features, which have been released in 2014, have a chance to win the Czech Lions. The list of the nominees in individual categories will be published on 14th January 2015 during a press conference of CFTA, which will be broadcast live on CT 24.
