Za pomoci filmové kamery projdeme celé západní i východní Krkonoše, seznámíme se s jejich vrcholy, příkrými srázy i hlubokými údolími jako důsledku ekologického či geomorfologického procesu, dotkneme se i historických aktivit člověka. V jednotlivých kapitolách nahlédneme nejen do ráje endemických rostlin, unikátních rašelinišť, ale i do podzemí, kde kdysi domorodí horníci dobývali vzácné kovy a jedinečné horniny. Seznámíme se i s historií tzv. budního hospodářství, při němž lidé žili především z toho, co jim poskytovala horská příroda a co oni sami mohli v tomto prostředí pěstovat na samých hřebenech hor. Vždyť v 18. století se na hřebech Krkonoš páslo až dvacet tisíc kusů dobytka.
